The DNA binding residues of the PD domain have been disrupted (amino acid replacements S92A, S94A, S95A and N97A).
Coexpression of the transgenes eygmHD.Scer\UAS and eygmPD.Scer\UAS, driven by Scer\GAL4dpp.blk1, results in the induction of an extra ventral in the ventral head region. Unlike overexpression of wild-type eyg, expression of eygmPD.Scer\UAS, under the control of Scer\GAL4dpp.blk1, does not cause extra ventral eye formation. Expression of eygmPD.Scer\UAS in a eyg22-2/eygM3-12 background has a dominant-negative effect on the thorax phenotype of these mutants.
Scer\GAL4eyg-22-2/eygmPD.UAS partially rescues eyg22-2/eygM3-12
Expression of eygmPD.Scer\UAS, under the control of Scer\GAL4eyg-22-2, partially rescues the eye phenotype of eyg22-2/eygM3-12 mutants, but has a dominant-negative effect on the thorax phenotype. Coexpression of the transgenes eygmHD.Scer\UAS and eygmPD.Scer\UAS in a eyg22-2/eygM3-12 background fully rescues the mutant eye and thorax phenotypes.
