Detailed Description
Statement
Reference

Expression of chnScer\UAS.cEa under the control of Scer\GAL4C-765 at 18oC results in extra bristles, with the appearance of many extra macrochaetae near wild-type bristles and an increase in the density of microchaetae on the notum. The bristles are always separated by epidermal cells in these flies. In addition, extra bristles are formed on the wings. At 25oC, most of these animals die before the pharate stage. Expression of chnScer\UAS.cEa under the control of Scer\GAL4MS248 reduces the size of the heminota and interferes with their dorsal fusion. In addition, extra macrochaetae are formed on the notum and on the head. Third instar wing discs expressing chnScer\UAS.cEa under the control of Scer\GAL4MS248 contain many ectopic sensory organ precursor cells (SOPs). The extra bristle and heminota fusion phenotypes caused by expression of chnScer\UAS.cEa under the control of Scer\GAL4MS248 are largely rescued by co-expression of chndsRNA.Scer\UAS (strong expressing line P{UAS-chn.dsRNA}S). Expression of chnScer\UAS.cEa under the control of Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096 results in extra bristles on the wing and metathorax. Third instar wing discs expressing chnScer\UAS.cEa under the control of Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096 contain ectopic SOPs. Expression of chnScer\UAS.cEa under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32, Scer\GAL41407 or Scer\GAL469B does not appreciably affect the larval peripheral nervous system.

Comments

The peripheral nervous system phenotypes seen in homozygous chnECJ1 embryos are largely rescued by expression of chnScer\UAS.cEa under the control of Scer\GAL469B.
