In dlpMH20 mutants, the number of ectopic mechanosensory bristles, but not chemosensory bristles, is increased.
Less than 1% of homozygous third instar larvae reach adulthood.
Wings from homozygous escapers are reduced in size compared to controls, with a greater reduction in the intervein area between wing veins 3 and 4 compared to the reduction in overall wing size. Ectopic mechanosensory bristles are present at the anterior wing margin. Homozygous adult escapers also have reduced, rough eyes.
Mutant embryos die with a "denticle lawn" phenotype. A low frequency of animals survive to adulthood. Those adults exhibit supernumerary wing margin bristles on either side of the margin.
