The expression of NPFR^UAS.cYa under the control of Scer\GAL4^NP1624 leads to virgin females showing an increase in the number of germline stem cells in the germarium, as compared to controls; the expression of NPFR^UAS.cYa under the control of Scer\GAL4^NP1624 rescues the germline stem cell number in NPFR^sk8/Df(3R)BSC464 mated females, but also leads to an abnormal increase in germline stem cells in virgin females.

Overexpression of NPFR1^Scer\UAS.cYa, under the control of Scer\GAL4^NPFR1.6.6 in the presence of liquid food results in a similar intake rate and a comparable increase in the feeding response to hunger as in controls, in both fasted and fed third instar larvae. When given solid food, fed third instar larvae expressing NPFR1^Scer\UAS.cYa under the control of Scer\GAL4^NPFR1.6.6 exhibit a significant intake of the solid food, whereas fed controls reject the same food. The feeding response of third instar larvae expressing NPFR1^Scer\UAS.cYa under the control of Scer\GAL4^NPFR1.6.6 is the same as controls fasted for 120 minutes.
