P1071L
One of two amino acid substitutions in mutant; likely cause of mutant phenotype.
mei-P2616 and mei-P2616/mei-P26fs1 flies have a high seizure threshold (the minimum voltage required to induce seizure activity in the dorsal longitudinal muscles after a high-frequency stimulus) compared to controls. mei-P2616 and mei-P2616/mei-P26fs1 flies show defects in X chromosome nondisjunction.
mei-P2616/Df(1)18.1.15 is a suppressor of bang sensitive phenotype of eas2
mei-P2616/mei-P2616 is a suppressor of bang sensitive phenotype of eas2
mei-P26fs1/mei-P2616 is a suppressor of bang sensitive phenotype of eas2
mei-P2616 is a suppressor of abnormal neurophysiology phenotype of eas2
mei-P2616/mei-P2616 is a suppressor of bang sensitive phenotype of jusiso7.8
mei-P26fs1/mei-P2616 is a suppressor of bang sensitive phenotype of jusiso7.8
mei-P2616 is a suppressor of abnormal neurophysiology phenotype of jusiso7.8
The suppression of bang sensitivity of eas2/Y mutants caused by mei-P2616/mei-P2616 is age dependent, with the strength of the suppression increasing with age; approximately 32% of 1-2 day old double mutant flies show bang sensitivity, but only 1% of 4-5 day old double mutant flies show bang sensitivity. The recovery time of eas2 flies after being subjected to a 10 second vortex is reduced if they are also mutant for mei-P2616; the time needed for recovery is reduced by about 12% in double mutant 1-2 day old bang sensitive flies and is reduced by about 19% in double mutant 2-3 day old bang sensitive flies. The reduced seizure threshold (the minimum voltage required to induce seizure activity in the dorsal longitudinal muscles after a high-frequency stimulus) of eas2 flies is partly suppressed if they are also mutant for mei-P2616, although the seizure threshold in the double mutant flies is still lower than that of wild-type controls. The increase in seizure threshold in the double mutants is not accompanied by an increase in giant fiber firing threshold. The reduced seizure threshold (the minimum voltage required to induce seizure activity in the dorsal longitudinal muscles after a high-frequency stimulus) of sdaiso7.8 flies is restored to wild-type if the flies are also mutant for mei-P2616.
Selected as: a mutation that suppresses the eas2 bang sensitive phenotype.
