        Homozygous lilli189Y mutants show impaired visual pattern memory and abnormal foraging behaviour.

        Mutant flies show scarcely any response decrement of the long-latency giant fiber response induced by electrical stimulation at the standard stimulation frequency of 5Hz.

        Mutant flies do not show full recovery from decrement to five-failure criterion of the long-latency electrically induced giant fiber response after 5 seconds of rest.

        Quantitative PCR analysis indicates that both lilli and for mRNA expression are significantly reduced compared to controls in P{GawB}lilli189Y flies. Precise excision of the insertion reverts this phenotype, such that mRNA expression of both genes is not significantly different from controls.
