Expression of GripΔ1-3.Scer\UAS, under the control of Scer\GAL4twi.PG leads to very strong defects in lateral transverse muscles (LTMs) in wild-type, Gripex36 and Gripex36/+ backgrounds. LTM defects include splitting into multiple projections, bending away from their target tendon cells and forming aberrant, integrin positive attachments in ectopic positions. These defects appear qualitatively very similar when scored in embryos or in larvae. Scer\GAL4twi.PG>GripΔ1-3.Scer\UAS expression in a Gripex36 or Gripex36/+ background results in slight ventrolateral muscleventrolateral muscle (VLM) defects.
Expression of GripΔ1-3.Scer\UAS in muscle 5, driven by Scer\GAL4slou.S59, results in formation of extra filopodia-like projections not present in wild-type muscle 5. These additional projections are still obvious in larval stages and other muscles can ectopically adhere to the GripΔ1-3.Scer\UAS-expressing muscles.
GripΔ1-3.UAS, Scer\GAL4twi.PG has lateral transverse muscle cell phenotype, suppressible by edslH8
Expression of GripΔ1-3.Scer\UAS, under the control of Scer\GAL4twi.PG in a edslH8 background causes a mild lateral transverse muscle phenotype similar to that seen in edslH8 embryos without transgene expression. This is in contrast to the more severe phenotype seen when GripΔ1-3.Scer\UAS is expressed in a wild-type background.
Scer\GAL4twi.PG/GripΔ1-3.UAS partially rescues Gripex36
