Expression of CG14069^GD488 under the control of Scer\GAL4^Abd-B.D1 results in aberrant morphology of the secondary cells in male accessory glands (absence of large vacuoles, variation in size within single gland, partial loss of binucleate character). Wild-type mates of these knock-down males lay fewer eggs and display defects in post-mating receptivity suppression - the females become receptive for re-mating sooner (by 4 days after start of mating) than when mated with wild-type males.

Adults expressing CG14069^GD488 under the control of Scer\GAL4^elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2^Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.
