UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of an inverted repeat.
The total duration of sleep per 24 hour period is not significantly different from wild type in flies expressing BTBD9GD9543 under the control of either Scer\GAL4elav-C155, Scer\GAL4ple.PF or Scer\GAL4Ddc.HL9. However, during the night the mean sleep bout length is decreased, the mean sleep bout number is increased and the amount of wake after sleep onset is increased in the mutant flies compared to wild type, indicating fragmented night-time sleep.
Expression of BTBD9GD9543 under the control of Scer\GAL4Ddc.HL5 does not result in defects in night-time sleep in adult flies.
Adults expressing BTBD9GD9543 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.
