Expression of smashGD10286 under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PS (but not Scer\GAL4pnr.PU, Scer\GAL4dpp.PU or Scer\GAL4Bx-MS1096) leads to a rough adult eye phenotype (more severe in males than in females). Its expression under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PS also leads to increased apoptosis (Caspase 3 staining) as well as increased cell proliferation (in the posterior region to the synchronized S phase zone, EdU incorporation) in the eye imaginal discs while it doesn't lead to any changes in the differentiation of larval photoreceptor cells (prospero staining) or pupal cone cells (cut staining) when compared to controls.

Adults expressing CG43427GD10286 under the control of Scer\GAL4elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.
