UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of an inverted repeat.
Flies expressing aretGD17093 under the control of Scer\GAL4Act88F.PB have significant defects in flight ability compared to wild type.
The size and position of the flight muscles are normal in adults expressing aretGD17093 under the control of Scer\GAL4Act88F.PB. However, the myofibrils of these muscles are irregular in shape. Ultrastructurally, normal sarcomere structure is lost, with fuzzy and penetrated Z lines, diffuse myofibril boundaries and loose packing of myofilaments (allowing incorporation of mitochondria and other membraneous structures into the vicinity of the myofibril). Thin and thick filaments can be identified, but the normal hexagonal lattice organisation is lost.
Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4Mef2.PR results in undefined lethality.
Expression under the control of Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 results in the absence of 30-40% of the Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237-expressing area of the notum.
