Expression of wkd^GD11617 in the trachea under the control of Scer\GAL4^btl.PS results in a terminal cell "U-turn" phenotype, in which seamless tubes execute a series of 180[o] turns.

Adults expressing wkd^GD11617 under the control of Scer\GAL4^elav.PLu (in the presence of Dcr-2^Scer\UAS.cDa to increase the efficiency of RNAi) do not show a significant defect in avoidance of noxious temperature (46[o]C) compared to control flies.

Co-expression of wkd^GD11617 alters the location of the ectopic seamless tube phenotype seen in tracheal terminal cells expressing btl^{Scer\UAS.T:λ\cI-DD} under the control of Scer\GAL4^btl.PS. Instead of being restricted to the soma, extra tubes are either found throughout the cell (in the soma and at the branch tip) or solely at the branch tip.
