Dscam2null-1 clones of individual L4 neurons (generated using Scer\FLP1G5.R27G05.Tag:PEST(mOdc)) exhibit a stereotyped dendritic phenotype: an additional branch often extend from one or both of the posterior dendrites and innervate an adjacent cartridge, and the dendritic fields of neighboring L4 neurons overlap thereby disrupting tiling when compared to control adults.

Wild-type L4 dendrites encountering Dscam2null-1 clones of L1 or L2 neurons (generated using Scer\FLP1dac.325) in the target fascicle occasionally exhibit abnormal targeting when compared to L4 dendrites encountering control L1 or L2 neurons in adults.

During pupal stages, Dscam2null-1 clones of L4 neurons (generated using Scer\FLP1G5.R27G05.Tag:PEST(mOdc)) exhibit little (partial mistargeting) or no (complete mistargeting) contact with the target fascicles, instead, they extend their dendrites along the proximal surface of R cell growth cones reaching beyond the target fascicles along the dorsoventral axis different than controls.

Dscam2null-1/Dscam2null-1 flies exhibit optic lobe defects, with fused optic cartridges in the lamina and highly disorganized photoreceptor projections in the medulla.

Some Dscam2null-1/Dscam2null-1 somatic clones of lamina monopolar neurons L1 in a Dscam2null-1/+ background display a tiling defect: axonal arbors extend laterally into neighbouring columns in medulla layers M1 and/or M5.
