UASp regulatory sequences drive expression of a dominant negative form of slpr. The K to M amino acid replacement is in the VAIK phospho-transfer motif of kinase subdomain II.

Expression of slprD314Y.KM.Scer\UAS.P\T under the control of Scer\GAL4pnr-MD237 results in defects in dorsal closure of the adult thorax (resulting in midline thorax clefts and widening of the space between adjacent dorsocentral bristles).

Expression of slprD314Y.KM.Scer\UAS.P\T under the control of Scer\GAL4arm.PS in an otherwise wild-type background results in very mild embryonic lethality and a low percentage of embryos with a dorsal open phenotype. Expression of slprD314Y.KM.Scer\UAS.P\T under the control of Scer\GAL4arm.PS in embryos derived from slprBS06/+ females significantly increases the percentage of embryonic lethality and severity of cuticle defects.

Expression of slprD314Y.KM.Scer\UAS.P\T under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PI in females results in maxillary palp and terminalia defects (with truncation of structures posterior to tergite 7).
