UAS regulatory sequences drive expression of an inverted repeat.
Expression of labJF02317 under the control of Scer\GAL4NP0001, in combination with a Gal80[ts] transgene to restrict expression to the adult stage, results in the loss of the ring-shaped brush borders and invagination characteristic of copper cells; R3 enterocytes display a smoothed shape reminiscent of enterocytes found in R2 or R4; there is also an increase in cell division (PH3 staining) in the midgut and a reduction in lifespan, compared to controls.
Expression of labJF02317 under the control of Scer\GAL4dpp.s-hc produces head defects with severe eye reductions, vibrissae defects and loss of maxillary palps.
