Or83cMB11142 abolishes the response of ai2 sensilla/Or83c neuron to farnesol and 3-hexanol.

In contrast to wild-type, antennal intermediate 2 (ai2) neurons from Or83cMB11142 mutants are completely insensitive to farnesol.

Driving Or83cScer\UAS.cRa with Scer\GAL4Or23a.PC in Or83cMB11142 mutant background confers farnesol sensitivity to ai2b neurons.

The electrophysiological response to grapefruit rind seen in wild-type neurons is abolished in Or83cMB11142 mutants.

Wild-type flies are robustly attracted by farnesol even at dilutions of 1:10 [5]. Farnesol attraction in Or83cMB11142 mutant flies is significantly impaired at all concentrations tested and completely abolished at 10[5] or greater dilutions.

Attraction behaviour of Or83cMB11142 mutant flies remains intact toward apple cider vinegar. This is the same behaviour as the one observed in wild-type.
