UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of an inverted repeat.
The expression of konKK102101 under the control of Scer\GAL4Mef2.PR leads to defects in indirect flight muscle compaction at 48h APF.
Scer\GAL4tj-NP1624-mediated expression results in holes in the cyst epithelium only detectable after stage 2 - the cyst is not covered by epithelial cells.
Expression of konKK102101 under the control of Scer\GAL4Mef2.PR from the larval stage onwards prevents eclosion from the pupal case. The persistent larval muscles in the abdomen of the pharate adults always show a detached phenotype and are rounded. The dorsal abdominal muscles are often misoriented and in addition are unevenly distributed, resulting in regions of the abdomen devoid of muscles.
Adult expressing konKK102101 under the control of Scer\GAL41151 have misoriented dorsal abdominal muscles which are thinner than normal and unevenly distributed.
Adult myoblasts in pupae expressing konKK102101 under the control of Scer\GAL4Mef2.PR are sometimes misoriented and fail to separate properly.
Expression of konKK102101 under the control of Scer\GAL4Mef2.PR does not affect muscle number or number of nuclei per muscle in the adult abdominal muscles, although the nuclei are not distributed evenly along the muscle length, in contrast to wild type. The muscles are thinner than normal and show defects in sarcomeric organisation: the Z-bands are irregular and discontinuous, the H-zone is severely reduced or missing and the bare zone is absent.
