Scer\GAL4^btl.PU-mediated expression of exp^KK111583 produces no detectable defects in the pattern of migration, organisation, or diversification of tracheal cells. However, a clear defect in chitin deposition is detected - luminal chitin accumulation is prevented in dorsal and ventral branches, remaining only in the dorsal trunk and part of the transverse connective. Only the branches that accumulate chitin fill with gas.

Scer\GAL4^tub.PU- or Scer\GAL4^69B-mediated expression of exp^KK111583 results in inflated and shorter embryos that show defects in the head skeleton. 20% of embryos show defective mouth inversion or rotation.
