hbs66/hbsa69, hbs66/hbs361, hbs66/hbs459, hbs66/hbs1130 or hbs66/hbs2593 eyes exhibit reduced number of Rh5 expressing R8 cells.

Eye specific clones of hbs66 exhibit a dramatic decrease in Rh5 expression and mispairing of Rh3 and Rh6 in adjacent R7 and R8 cells of individual ommatidia.

hbs66/hbs66, hbs66/hbs459 and hbs66/hbs2593 adults have rough eyes.

hbs66/hbs66 and hbs66/Df(2R)δ12 pupal/pharate adult animals have a low incidence of fused ommatidia and wrong numbers of cone cells per ommatidium (<5% ommatidia) and a higher incidence of abnormal contacts between cone cells (35-40% ommatidia). Adults have a low incidence of tissue polarity defects (<3% ommatidia).
