male sterile (with scny02331)
Mutant ovaries and testes are small in size and only a small number of germ cells are present in each case. The mutant ovarian germ cells contain spectrosomes, indicating that they are either germline stem cells or 1-cell cystoblasts. The mutant embryos show heavy staining with acridine orange, suggesting that cells are undergoing apoptosis.
scny02331/scnyroo males and females are sterile, with tiny gonads.
