Comment:

Deletion of kibra resulting from FLP-catalyzed recombination using the FRT-containing transposons PBac{RB}Meltrine00483 and P{XP}kibrad05870.

Detailed Description
Statement

Pupal retinae composed of homozygous kibradel mutant cells show an increase in the number of interommatidial cells.

Homozygous clones in the posterior follicle cells result in mislocalisation of the oocyte nucleus as well as the formation of a multilayered follicular epithelium. The mutant follicle cells have smaller nuclei than wild-type follicle cells.

Homozygous clones induced using the eyFLP method result in animals with larger eyes than normal. The mosaic eyes show an over-representation of mutant over wild-type tissue and the mutant clones contain an average of 5.8 extra interommatidial cells per ommatidial cluster when examined in pupae.

Additional Comments
Genetic Interactions
Statement
Reference

The rough eye phenotype observed in adults expressing MagiScer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PU is not modified by combination with single copy of kibradel.

Pupal retinae composed of crb82-04 kibradel double mutant cells show a massive increase in the number of interommatidial cells.

The small eye phenotype caused by hpoGMR.PW is not affected if the eyes are also homozygous for kibradel.

exe1 ; kibradel and Mer4 ; kibradel double mutant clones in the eye show a more severe eye overgrowth phenotype and a greater number of interommatidial cells per ommatidium than is seen in either single mutant.
