Most thoracic neuroblasts retain the round shape characteristic of proliferating neuroblasts. Thoracic neuroblast NB3-3 shows prolonged proliferation and generates extra thoracic EL neurons.

In cas^20-1, Df(2L)ED773 double mutants, most thoracic neuroblasts show precocious quiescence similar to the Df(2L)ED773 single mutants.

Scer\GAL4^wor.PA-mediated expression of sqz^Scer\UAS.cTa or nab^Scer\UAS.cFa alone does not rescue the cas^20-1 phenotype, whereas co-expression of sqz^Scer\UAS.cTa and nab^Scer\UAS.cFa is able to induce quiescence in cas^20-1 embryos.
