Comment:

Inferred location of sffB22 mutation, which is reported to be a G to A change in a consensus AP-1-binding site, 261 bp upstream of the predicted start site of sff (3'-AATCAGT-5' changed to 3'-AATCAAT-5'). It appears that the sff start site used is from an earlier release of FlyBase and maps ~12 kb downstream of the currently annotated transcription start site (R5.56). See also Figure S2B.

      Homozygous sffB22 mutants exhibit negative geotaxis defects that are more pronounced at reduced temperature.

      The neuromuscular junction (NMJ) in sffB22 mutant larvae is considerably less complex than that in wild-type. There is a significant reduction in both bouton and primary branch number.
