Optogenetic activation (using Cnoc\ChR1::Csub\ChRCsChrimson.IVS.20xUAS.Venus with 617 nm (red) light) of Scer\GAL4GMR79D04 cells in adults during the day does not significantly affect daytime sleep, similar to controls, but there is significantly increased nighttime sleep following this activation, unlike controls; activation has no effect on daytime sleep bout duration or number, compared to baseline, but nighttime sleep bouts following activation have significantly increased duration and significantly decreased number; walking speed is unaltered during or after activation, compared to baseline.
Inactivation (using Hsap\KCNJ2UAS.EGFP) of Scer\GAL4GMR79D04 cells in adults inhibits stabilisation of odor tracking during flight, with no effect on initial orientation towards an odor, compared to controls.
