Flies expressing hppyScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32 that survive pupation exhibit a reduced wing area. There is a clear decrease in the total number of bristle cells on the wing, indicating cell loss.

Overexpression of hppyScer\UAS.cLa driven by Scer\GAL4e22c in the posterior compartment of the developing wing disc results in the appearance of TUNEL-positive cells, indicating apoptotic cell death. Resultant adult wings display wing vein defects and a clear reduction in the posterior area of the wing.

Ectopic expression of hppyScer\UAS.cLa driven by Scer\GAL4e22c results in caspase activation in the posterior compartment of the developing wing discs.
