Overexpression of krz^Scer\UAS.cMa in the wing blade under the control of Scer\GAL4^MD-638 causes a variable phenotype of reduced wing size and changes in the pattern of veins. The most obvious phenotype of krz^Scer\UAS.cMa overexpression is the reduction of the L3-L4 intervein territory. In the most severe cases, the wing is very reduced in size and all longitudinal veins fail to differentiate.

Expression of krz^Scer\UAS.cMa in the central nervous system under the control of Scer\GAL4^wor.PA rescues the lethality of krz^d1/krz^S047819. The surviving flies are sterile and display slightly folded wings. Wing discs in rescued larvae have a normal appearance.

Overexpression of krz^Scer\UAS.cMa in anterior cells located in the central domain of the wing blade under the control of Scer\GAL4^dpp.blk1 results in the reduction of the L3-L4 intervein territory.
