Expression of Itp-r83AdsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4Gr5a.853 changes the sensitivity of flies to sugars, with expression resulting in less of a preference towards trehalose and an increase in consumption of sucrose. Fewer flies consumed trehalose and more flies consumed sucrose alone or both trehalose and sucrose.
Flies expressing Itp-r83AdsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4Gr5a.853 exhibit a decrease in trehalose consumption at a variety of trehalose concentrations.
Expression of Itp-r83AdsRNA.Scer\UAS under the control of Scer\GAL4Gr5a.853 reduces the intake of 5mM sucrose, although this reduction is less than that seen for 5mM trehalose consumption.
The number of impulses from I-type hairs in response to 500mM trehalose is fewer in Scer\GAL4Gr5a.853/Itp-r83AdsRNA.Scer\UAS flies than that in control flies.
