UAS regulatory sequences drive expression of a version of w containing 235 silent mutations in the 687bp that is targeted by P{UAS-w-dsRNA.K}, to produce an RNAi resistant form (RNAi Escape Strategy Construct (RESC) method).

      Expression of wRESC.Scer\UAS under the control of restores eye color in w1118 mutants.

      Co-expression of the rescue transgene wRESC.Scer\UAS and wdsRNA.Scer\UAS.cKa under the control of Scer\GAL4αTub84B.PL restores eye color in w1118 mutants. Unlike when traditional rescue constructs are expressed (i.e. transgenes not containing the RESC mismatched sequence) the eye color seen is identical to that seen when the transgene is expressed without the RNAi construct.
