Imprecise excision of the progenitor insertion, resulting in a 1131bp deletion that removes part of the morgue gene (the deletion ends at Ala321).
1131 bp deletion resulting from the imprecise excision of P{SUPor-P}Elp3KG02386, which extends from the insertion site to amino acid residue A321 of morgue. Boundaries approximate.
Homozygous flies are somewhat lethargic.
One or both of the anterior spiracles of the pupal case fail to evert and extend in 10% of homozygotes. 10.2% of eclosed homozygous adults show malformations in the tergite plates on the dorsal abdomen.
Stage 16 mutant embryos have 1-2 additional midline glia in several, but not all, ventral nerve cord ganglia. The mutant embryos also have aberrant midline glial cytoplasmic processes that are not well separated and often extend across inter-ganglia borders.
The average number of larval photoreceptor neurons is normal in stage 16 mutant embryos, however there is greatly increased variability in the number of neurons per cluster in the mutant embryos compared to wild type. The mutant embryos also show substantial asymmetry in the number of neurons within each of the two photoreceptor neuron clusters.
