The critical Thr and Tyr residues of the TGY phosphorylation motif are mutated to Ala in this construct.

UAS regulatory sequences drive expression of a mutated form of p38b in which the threonine residue at 183 and the tyrosine residue at 185 have been replaced with alanine.

Overexpression of p38bala.Scer\UAS in clock neurons using either Scer\GAL4P0.5.Pdf or Scer\GAL4cry.PZ results in a significant increase in arrhythmicity and tau under free-running conditions of 25.9h and 25.2h, respectively.
