Scer\GAL4GMR.PU-mediated expression results in a normal eye.
Scer\GAL4ey.PU-mediated expression results in a rough eye with irregular alignment of ommatidia and bristles, as well as a significant reduction in the number of adult flies eclosing. Ommatidia are of irregular sizes with excess/fewer rhabdomeres than normal; however, each ommatidium contains normally polarized photoreceptor cells, suggesting that the phenotypes are caused by defects in photoreceptor clustering during ommatidial formation.
The specification of R8 neurons is disturbed in Scer\GAL4ey.PU, AP-1σNIG.5864R third instar larval discs.

AP-1μNIG.9388R, AftiNIG.8538R, Scer\GAL4ey.PU has lethal | pharate adult stage phenotype
AP-1μNIG.9388R, AftiNIG.8538R, Scer\GAL4ey.PU has head phenotype
Co-expression of AftiNIG.3002R in a Scer\GAL4ey.PU, AP-47NIG.9388R background results in complete loss of viable adults. These animals die at the pharate stage with loss of the head.
