No obvious eye phenotypes are seen when Zip42C.1^{dsRNA.Scer\UAS} is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4^elav.PU.

Flies expressing ZIP1^{dsRNA.Scer\UAS} under the control of Scer\GAL4^Act5C.PI are more tolerant of zinc overdose than controls.

Flies expressing ZIP1^{dsRNA.Scer\UAS} under the control of Scer\GAL4^elav.PLu do not show any significant defects in climbing ability with age. Lifespan is also similar to controls. No memory loss is detected in 5 day old flies following olfactory aversive conditioning.

Expression of Zip42C.1^{dsRNA.Scer\UAS} partially suppresses the rough eye phenotype seen in flies expressing Hsap\MAPT^{R406W.Scer\UAS} under the control of Scer\GAL4^elav.PU. Lifespan is also increased. The number of brain vacuoles in reduced.

Expression of ZIP1^{dsRNA.Scer\UAS} suppresses the brain vacuolisation phenotype seen in 20 day old flies when Hsap\APP^{Aβ1-42.Scer\UAS.cIa} is expressed under the control of Scer\GAL4^elav.PLu.
