Amino acid replacement: P971S.
wocD1 is a non-suppressor of visible | adult stage phenotype of wa
wocD1 dominantly suppresses the loss of eye colour (pairing-sensitive silencing) seen in P{wen.8}10C. The eye colour becomes darker when flies are either homozygous or heterozygous for P{wen.8}10C.
wocD1 is unable to dominantly suppress the pairing-sensitive silencing (loss of eye colour) seen in 14/15 insertion lines containing the wP1\loxP.en.8 construct. However the eye colour of one insertion, P{(loxP.en.8)w}8A, is suppressed by wocD1, resulting in eyes with a slightly darker colour. wocD1 has no effect on the eye colour of flies carrying the P{(-loxP.en.8)w}8A insertion, in which the PRE element from P{(loxP.en.8)w}8A has been removed using CRE recombinase.
One copy of wocD1 has no effect on the eye colour seen in flies carrying P{EP}EP2185.
wocD1 does not suppress the eye colour phenotype seen in wa mutant flies.
