UASt regulatory sequences drive expression of a 500bp inverted repeat.
Knockdown of Tps1 in the fat body, through expression of Tps1NIG.4104R under the control of Scer\GAL4Cg.PA significantly reduces trehalose levels. These flies undergo puparium formation but fail to eclose at the late pupal stage. Other tissue-specific Gal4 drivers, such as Scer\GAL4Mef2.PR (muscle), Scer\GAL4repo (glia), Scer\GAL4elav.PU (neurons), and Scer\GAL4Myo31DF.PU (midgut enterocytes), which do not drive expression in the fat body, do not display phenotypic effects and produce viable adults.
