        Females of CG8771BG01711 have a greatly reduced olfactory trap response index compared to the wild-type control.

        Homozygous CG8771BG01711 flies show normal negative geotaxis response compared to wild-type.

        Rapid amplification of cDNA ends (3' RACE) analysis shows that the vector in the BG01711 line is spliced to the CG8771 gene contradicting the BDGP prediction at 76A1 in the fz2 gene. However, in situ hybridisation gives no conclusive results regarding the presence or absence of an additional insertion.
