The endogenous Adar gene has been replaced with a mutant version in which the serine codon containing the edited adenosine has been changed from AGT to an alternative serine codon, CTC. A single loxP site is also inserted in Adar intron 7.

      Locomotor activity in AdarS male flies kept in either 12h light: 12h dark or constant dark conditions is similar to wild type. AdarS mutant males spend less time at the top of the vial compared to controls, suggesting that climbing ability is impaired.
