Male and female flies expressing Same\LazScer\UAS.cRa under the control of either Scer\GAL4Ddc.PL or Scer\GAL4109(2)80 show an increase in median lifespan compared to controls.

Female flies, and to a lesser extent male flies, expressing Same\LazScer\UAS.cRa under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32 show an increase in median lifespan compared to controls.

Expression of Same\LazScer\UAS.cRa under the control of either Scer\GAL4da.G32, Scer\GAL4repo-M1B, Scer\GAL4ppl.PP, Scer\GAL4repo or Scer\GAL4l(3)31-1-31-1 significantly increases the survival of both male and female flies upon starvation-desiccation stress.

Expression of Same\LazScer\UAS.cRa under the control of either Scer\GAL4Ddc.PL or Scer\GAL4109(2)80 significantly increases the survival of female but not male flies upon starvation-desiccation stress.

Expression of Same\LazScer\UAS.cRa under the control of Scer\GAL4He.PZ has no effect on starvation-desiccation resistance.

Expression of Same\LazScer\UAS.cRa under the control of Scer\GAL4D42 significantly increases the survival of male but not female flies upon starvation-desiccation stress.

Female, but not male, flies expressing Same\LazScer\UAS.cRa under the control of Scer\GAL4repo-M1B show increased resistance to iron toxicity (treated with FeSO[[4]]) compared to controls.

Females expressing Same\LazScer\UAS.cRa under the control of Scer\GAL4Ddc.PL show slightly increased resistance to iron toxicity (treated with FeSO[[4]]) compared to controls, while male flies are show decreased resistance in this assay.

Flies expressing Same\LazScer\UAS.cRa under the control of either Scer\GAL4da.G32 or Scer\GAL4109(2)80 show increased resistance to iron toxicity (treated with FeSO[[4]]) compared to controls, with the effect being stronger in females when expression is under the control of Scer\GAL4109(2)80.

Flies expressing Same\LazScer\UAS.cRa under the control of Scer\GAL4ppl.PP show decreased resistance to iron toxicity (treated with FeSO[[4]]) compared to controls.

Expression of Same\LazScer\UAS.cRa under the control of Scer\GAL4repo has no significant effect on resistance to iron toxicity (treated with FeSO[[4]]).

Expression of Same\LazScer\UAS.cRa under the control of either Scer\GAL4repo-M1B, Scer\GAL4ppl.PP or Scer\GAL4Ddc.PL results in an increased resistance to hyperoxia.

The increased sensitivity to starvation-desiccation and to iron toxicity (treated with FeSO[[4]]) seen in NLazNW5 homozygotes is rescued by expression of Same\LazScer\UAS.cRa under the control of Scer\GAL4da.G32. However, the courtship defects seen in NLazNW5 homozygotes are not rescued.
