The neuromuscular junctions of rictorΔ42 homozygous transheterozygous third instar larvae present significantly more boutons than controls.

The neuromuscular junctions of homozygous rictorΔ42 mutant larvae (muscle 4 of segment A2-4) show a significant increase in synaptic growth compared to controls.

Homozygous flies show a one-day delay in eclosion compared to wild type and approximately 10% lethality in the early developmental stages. Adult body size and average body weight is significantly reduced.

The synaptic growth defects seen in rictorΔ42 gig109 double mutants are similar to those seen in either mutant alone.

Homozygosity for rictorΔ42 dramatically suppresses the enlarged eye (and enlarged ommatidium) phenotype caused by expression of Akt1Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PU.

The reduction in eye size and ommatidial loss caused by expression of foxoScer\UAS.cLa under the control of Scer\GAL4GMR.PU is dramatically enhanced in a rictorΔ42 background.
