Description

Imprecise excision of P{GSV2}GS50262 has resulted in a 2,509bp deletion that removes the 5'UTR of Patj as well as the L27 motif and the first three PDZ domains.

No discernible defects are seen in the cellularising cells of stage 5 embryos derived from females carrying PatjΔ7 germline clones. The embryos complete their development through the embryonic and larval stages. The overall pattern of apical-basal polarity in stage 10 and 11 embryos appears normal.

No apical-basal polarity defects are seen in PatjΔ7 mutant larval imaginal discs or adult follicular cell clones.

PatjΔ7 mutant photoreceptor clones in the early pupal retina show apical-basal polarity defects and the adherens junctions appear to be disrupted.

No obvious morphological abnormalities are observed in PatjΔ7/Df(3L)BSC123 mutant larvae. However, within several hours of pupal formation the PatjΔ7/Df(3L)BSC123 pupae exhibit deformities in shape, with a flattened anterior end and rounded posterior. At 16% pupal development the head region is underdeveloped, although the imaginal discs appear to have successfully everted. Older PatjΔ7/Df(3L)BSC123 pupae fail to develop head and thoracic regions and growth of the everted imaginal discs is stalled.
