Expression of ATP7dsRNA.Sym.Scer\UAS in the digestive tract under the control of Scer\GAL4NP2020 results in developmental arrest mainly at stage P12 of metamorphosis. Supplementation of copper into fly food enhances pupal survival into the adult stage.
Animals expressing Scer\GAL4NP2020>ATP7dsRNA.Sym.Scer\UAS show severe neuro-developmental defects compared with controls, where the brain size in the mutant pupae is severely reduced to approximately half the size of that of wild-type.
Surviving flies expressing Scer\GAL4NP2020>ATP7dsRNA.Sym.Scer\UAS display normal external morphology including cuticle pigmentation and bristle formation. The life span of these flies is only slightly shorter than that of controls. However, surviving flies are sensitised to oxidative stress in the form of hyperoxia.
ATP7RNAi.Sym.UAS, Scer\GAL4NP2020 has partially lethal - majority die | pharate adult stage P12 phenotype, suppressible by MTF-1Tub.PY
Overexpression of MTF-1Tub.PY in Scer\GAL4NP2020>ATP7dsRNA.Sym.Scer\UAS flies significantly enhances pupal survival.
