Dendritic terminals are completely missing in adult DL1 projection neuron homozygous single-cell clones, even though the dendritic stalks always show normal targeting to the vicinity of the DL1 glomerulus. The axons of these mutant neurons often do not reach the lateral horn (70% of cases), instead ending at the calyx region of the mushroom body with decreased numbers of synaptic boutons in the mushroom body calyx. In those cases (30%) where the mutant axon does reach the lateral horn, the axonal terminals are much less branched than normal.
Homozygous anterodorsal neuroblast (adNb) and lNb clones also show loss of dendritic and axonal terminal arborisations in projection neurons. Homozygous adNb clones show a significant reduction in cell number compared to wild-type control adNb clones.
GlyRSteam is rescued by GlyRSUAS.Tag:MYC/Scer\GAL4GH146
Expression of Aats-glyScer\UAS.T:Hsap\MYC under the control of Scer\GAL4GH146 fully rescues the mutant phenotypes of homozygous Aats-glyteam DL1 projection neuron clones and of homozygous Aats-glyteam neuroblast clones.
