The P{XP}CG45071d07411 insertion maps within both CTPsyn and CG45071. CG45071 function is disrupted by the insertion: FBrf0220954 shows that transcription of CG45071 is significantly reduced in the insertion line. It is not clear whether or not CTPsyn function is affected: FBrf0220954 shows that P{XP}CG45071d07411 complements PBac{RB}CTPsyne01207 (an insertion that lies only within the CTPsyn transcription unit), suggesting that CTPsyn may be unaffected by the P{XP}CG45071d07411 insertion. However, mutant egg chamber clones show disruption in the formation of cytoophidia, indicating either that loss of CG45071 disrupts cytoophidium formation or that CTPsyn (which localises to the cytoophidium in wild type) is affected in the insertion line. FBrf0220954 also shows that there is no change in transcription of the shorter CTPsyn isoform and only a slight reduction (20%) in transcription of the longer isoform of CTPsyn in the insertion line.
P{XP}CG45071d07411 mutant larvae are significantly smaller than normal. They survive until 5 days after egg deposition with very little growth. Homozygous P{XP}CG45071d07411 germline clones in the egg chamber lack detectable cytoophidia. FlyBase curator comment: it is not clear whether the mutant phenotypes of the P{XP}CG45071d07411 line are due to an effect on CTPsyn or CG45071 or both.
