UASp regulatory sequences drive expression of full-length mars coding sequences, tagged at the N-terminal with GFP. This transgene is inserted into position 99F8 on the third chromosome, using the phiC31 integrase system.

      Approximately 80% of embryos with a mild overexpression of mars (marsScer\UAS.P\T.N.T:Avic\GFP) driven by Scer\GAL4da.G32, exhibit normal mitotic spindle morphology when treated with democolcine, compared to around 20% of wild-type embryos.
