Mutant males and females show very strong resistance to ethanol sedation compared to controls when exposed to a high concentration of 67% ethanol vapour.
Mutant males and females have a reduced internal ethanol concentration compared to controls after exposure to 47% ethanol. Dose-response experiments indicate that mutants require a higher internal ethanol concentration to show the same sedation sensitivity as control flies.
tank4-12 is rescued by Scer\GAL4tank-4-12/tankUAS.RA
Expression of tankScer\UAS.RA under the control of Scer\GAL4tank-4-12 restores the ethanol sensitivity of tank4-12 flies to wild type. This rescue is still seen if expression is restricted to the adult stage using the temperature sensitive Scer\GAL80ts.αTub84B allele.
Precise excision of the P{GawB} element restores normal ethanol sensitivity.
