Detailed Description

WGMR.cLa homozygous flies exhibit ablated eyes. Flies heterozygous for autosomal insertions of P{GMR-hid.L} exhibit similar eye sizes in each sex. Flies with X-linked insertions of P{GMR-hid.L} also show little difference in eye size between the sexes. In most cases (hemizygous) male eyes are only slightly smaller than heterozygous female eyes; both sexes exhibit a small range of sizes that minimally overlap.
