The GMR20C11 enhancer fragment followed by the Drosophila synthetic core promoter (DSCP) is fused upstream of the p65(AD)::Zip+ hemidriver (component of a 'split driver' system, contains the p65 activation domain).

Activation of C2 lamina neurons, using Hsap\RELAAD.R20C11.T:Zzzz\Zip+, Scer\GAL4DBD.R25B02.T:Zzzz\Zip- and TrpA1Scer\UAS.cUa, increases steering responses to regressive motion and decreases responses to progressive motion.
Silencing of C2 + C3 lamina neurons, using Hsap\RELAAD.R20C11.T:Zzzz\Zip+, Scer\GAL4DBD.R48D11.T:Zzzz\Zip- and Hsap\KCNJ2Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP, dramatically shifts fly responses to all regressive motion stimuli, such that clockwise regressive motion causes flies to turn counterclockwise. Behavioural responses to progressive motion are unaffected.
Silencing of C2 lamina neurons, using Hsap\RELAAD.R20C11.T:Zzzz\Zip+, Scer\GAL4DBD.R25B02.T:Zzzz\Zip- and Hsap\KCNJ2Scer\UAS.T:Avic\GFP-EGFP, abolishes reverse-optomotor inversion at high speeds.
