Imprecise excision of P{EP}morgueEP2367 results in a deletion from 65bp upstream of the Elp3 transcription start site to the triplet encoding K277.
A deletion resulting from the imprecise excision of P{EP}morgueEP2367. The deletion is reported as extending from the insertion site to codon K277; (not clear if K277 is deleted or not; mapped deletion does not include K277).
Homozygous Elp3Ex1 mutant larvae show a profound developmental delay and die during pupariation. Progression to the third instar larval stage is delayed and growth is slow. Growth of the larval leg discs and wing discs is severely impaired. Salivary glands remain small.
Elp3Ex1 mutant larvae exhibit melanotic nodules. Lamellocyte numbers are unchanged but hemocyte numbers are reduced, and the remaining hemocytes aggregate to form micronodules, which are in circulation. Crystal cell number are also unchanged.
Elp3Ex1 is partially rescued by Scer\GAL4Act5C.PI/Elp3UAS.Tag:HA
Ubiquitous expression of Elp3Scer\UAS.T:Ivir\HA1 under the control of Scer\GAL4Act5C.PI rescues the lethality associated with Elp3Ex1. However, while the resulting males show normal fertility, the females are sterile.
The expression of morgue is unaffected in Elp3Ex1.
