The mir-987 hairpin has been deleted. A loxP cassette which contains both the Scer\GAL4 coding sequence and a w+mW.hs marker is present at the site of the deletion. It is not known whether or not expression of the host CG13739 gene is affected.

      mir-987KO/Df(2R)BSC280 embryos show a significant increase in primordial germ cell number compared to controls. They show a range of cuticle defects, including failure of head involution and abnormal denticle polarity.
