      Expression of a transgene bearing 8 copies of a mutated form of the histone repeat unit (PBac{8xHisTA.H3K27A} - comprised of 8xHis3HisTA.H3K27A and 8x wild type copies of His1HisTA.wt, His2AHisTA.wt, His2BHisTA.wt and His3HisTA.wt) in a wild type background results in several dominant phenotypes, including decreased viability and diminished fertility. Ectopic sex combs are seen at low frequency. A hemizygous Df(2L)HisC background enhances these phenotypes, and also results in new phenotypes including aberrant leg and wing morphogenesis.
