UAS regulatory sequences drive expression of a short inverted repeat.
Individuals expressing chinmoHMC05346 under the control of Scer\GAL4en-e16E arrest as L1 larvae, despite growing larger than control L2 larvae. Some of these larvae assume a "tiger-striped" appearance, with two thin rings of tanned cuticle within each segmental en expression domain; epidermal cells between en domains make a new, L2 cuticle, while cells within each en domain do not and instead start puparium tanning. The expression domain within the larval salivary gland presents nuclei that fail to grow. The expression domain within the wing disc shows abnormally thickened and disorganized cells.
